THE BEST FLOWERS TO PLANT FOR AN AUTUMN BLOOM
Keeping your garden looking fresh and lively for as much of the year as possible is a task many gardeners face.
The Chinese plumbago plants are a great idea for a bright and open yellow plant that will last until November and keep that summer feeling lingering for as long as possible. Similarly, the Red-hot poker ‘Tawny King’ flower will create the same beautiful look for your garden with a slightly darker yellow shade. However, if you’re looking for more of a subtle, lighter shade, you might want to give the Phlox ‘Monica Lynden-Bell’ flower a try. With its white and light pink colours it brings back spring vibes, but can survive well in shade with good soil, which will be helpful in the slightly darker times of the year.
Add a hint of purple to your garden with a small stem plant like the one flower ‘Goldsturm’. This plant likes to have a little bit of sun but nothing too hot, meaning it can survive all through the year but is a better choice to plant late August-early September. Planting around the beginning of Autumn will allow you to see the flowers full potential and use up the last of the sunshine before the darker seasons begin. The New York daisy can also be a fun choice for a plant that blooms late summer and continues on for many months. It creates beautiful big flowers with dozens of flowers that can bloom in pink, purple and blue so you can choose your preference. Bigger flowers may be a better choice for those who aren’t as keen at gardening, as they will take up more room.
There is so much choice out there for you to pick from and make the most out of your garden space all year round. You don’t need to stop planting flowers as Autumn hits; there are a great variety of blooms that can cheer you up even after the sun has gone away.
