Fuchsia riccartoni is a hardy deciduous shrub, one of the most popular fuchsias in cultivation, and is known for its beautiful flowers and long flowering season. It grows to be 3-6 feet tall and wide, with arching branches that are covered in small, ovate leaves. The leaves are dark green in color, and have a bronze tint when they first emerge in spring. The flowers of Fuchsia riccartoni are small to medium in size, and have a distinctive shape. The sepals are crimson red, and are held horizontally, almost like a petticoat. The petals are deep purple or blue-violet, and are arranged in a bell shape.

Planting: When planting this plant in the open ground it is best planted with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality Tree and Shrub Compost. If planting in a container then we recommend John Innes No3 Compost or a good quality Multipurpose compost. These plants should be fed in Spring and late Summer with a good quality granular fertiliser.
